• Emptied of resident and awaiting demolition, the Red Road flats are an icon of post-war Glasgow when tenement slums were demolished to make way for modern developments and communities were shipped out, often in fractured groups to these high-rises. These new communities lack basic necessities such as shops and buses took the residents back to the streets they have moved from for shopping and work. The controlled demolition was pledged to occur on the night of the Glasgow 2014 commonwealth games but the idea was overturned after a groundswell of opposition.
