  • he Arctic Tern, known locally as the ‘tirrick’ for its distinctive call, is the harbinger of summer. Numbers have dropped by 70% in thirty years caused by declines in sand eel by overfishing and climate change. The birds undertake the longest migration of any animal- some clock up 44,000 miles a year from pole to pole.
